Count Dooku

Count Dooku began as one of the most respected and senior members of the Jedi Knights.  He was the instructor of Qui Gon Jinn, who subsequently taught Obi Wan Kenobi.  He was a full Jedi Master and a member of the Council.However Dooku could not help but notice that the incorruptible Jedi Knights were giving their allegiance, and often times, their lives in the service of a corrupt order.  The Senate and its bureaucracy was far from pristine, yet the Jedi had not made their views known, nor protested the corruption.

Dooku made the mistake of speaking out about this inequity, and was subsequently drummed out of the Jedi Knights.  He took his expulsion calmly, and began to work towards remedying the problems of the Old Republic.  He joined with Darth Sidious, otherwise known as Senator Palpatine, learned the ways of the Dark Side of the Force and took on the alias Darth Tyranus for certain missions.  One mission was to create Separatist movement entitled the Confederacy of Independent Systems as an alternative political entity to the Republic.At the same time, Dooku worked with the master geneticists on Kamino to create a Clone Army for the Republic, which was to serve as the basis for the military of the New Order.Dooku was successful in his missions, and in provoking a war which caused the old order to come tumbling down.  In the process, he even managed to match powers with old Master Yoda himself.
