Admiral Piett served originally as a captain on Lord Vader’s flagship, the Executor. Having discovered the Rebel base on the planet Hoth, he was tipped for quick promotion when his superior officer, Admiral Ozzel, failed to anticipate Rebel moves.As Admiral, he took part in a number of Imperial engagements: his last was at the Battle of Endor, in which he was in command of the Executor. A small Rebel fighter managed to penetrate the ship’s defenses, spun out of control and crashed right into the bridge, killing Piett in the process and setting the Executor into a collision course with the Death Star.
